The testimony against Sadyr Japarov was got under torture. The lawyer of ex-deputy of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Dinara Medetova told today at a press conference.

According to her, when a criminal case was opened on the fact of a rally in Karakol and Saruu in October 2013, there were no complaints against Sadyr Japarov.

«No one wrote any statements against him, including the ex-governor of Issyk-Kul region Emilbek Kaptagaev. Evidence against Japarov was knocked out in GKNB from one of the defendants in Saruu case Nariste Kalchiev. He testified against Japarov under torture. This video is on the Internet. Proceeding from this, I declare that the case against Sadyr Japarov is political one," Dinara Medetova said.

She added that Sadyr Japarov’s health is worrying, and the threat to his life remains.

She was supported by another lawyer — Baktybek Asamudinov. He noted that he appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a demand to give an official response and verify the fact of attempted suicide by Sadyr Japarov.

«The state must guarantee a humane treatment of a person and preservation of his dignity," the lawyer said.

The day before, Sadyr Japarov’s lawyers appealed to the head of the correctional facility with a request to strengthen the protection of their client, as, according to their information, there is a threat to his life.

Recall, Sadyr Japarov recently resided in Cyprus. Upon his arrival, he was detained right on the border with Kazakhstan and taken to the State National Security Committee for interrogation in the criminal case about taking Emilbek Kaptagaev hostage in 2013. His supporters held a rally at the building of the State Committee demanding the release of the former deputy. The demonstrators twice tried to break through the cordon. Special services dispersed the participants of the protest. As a result, 105 people were detained for violation of public order.
