Tamara Valieva: Media don’t set slander of any official as its goal
The media inform society, but don’t discredit it. This was stated today at the round table by the head of the Independent Union of Journalists Tamara Valieva.
According to her, journalists are exempted from liability if they distribute official documents or quote verbatim statements of public figures.
The participants of the discussion also raised the topic of peaceful assembly. Representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office recalled the rules of its holding and punishment for their violation, and added that law enforcement bodies should respect the right of citizens to a peaceful assembly.
