Almazbek Atambayev addressed the people of Kyrgyzstan in connection with the anniversary of the people’s revolution. Information Policy Department of the Presidential Administration reported.

The appeal reads: «Today, our country marks the anniversary of the victory of the people’s revolution on March 24, 2005, which was called March revolution by the people, and «a tulip revolution» in the world community. The March revolution was victorious because the people of Kyrgyzstan consolidated in their rejection of the rotten power of the Akayevs family.»

«However, the main historical lesson of the March People’s Revolution was the subsequent awareness of the people that the real revolution is not only the overthrow of the anti-people regime. It is very important to protect its gains and not to allow destructive forces to return the country into a state of authoritarianism and lawlessness," the President said.

«The people who came out in March 2005 to fight for freedom and justice did not think that very soon another, more greedy and cruel family, would seize power in the country, and the ideals of the revolution would be trampled on. The reign of the Bakiyevs family was accompanied by persecution of politicians and journalists, their assassinations, an even more insolent looting of people’s wealth," the appeal says.

«The April People’s Revolution of 2010 again opened the way to the revival of Kyrgyzstan. Over the years, much has been done to strengthen the country’s independence, economic development and revive the people’s faith in their country and their future. Thanks to the tremendous effort and patience of the people, we managed to mobilize the country, to turn it into a path of sustainable development, «Almazbek Atambayev said.

The President noted that today it is important not to respond to provocations of those politicians who, for the sake of their own narrow interests, try to split society and destabilize the situation in the country.
