Presidential elections: Kyrgyzstan enters turbulence zone

Almazbek Atambayev leaves his post. His place in the political arena is occupied by the candidates for the top post of the country.

Akshumkar party has launched the election process that nominated its leader Temir Sariyev as a presidential candidate.

But no one, including the close associates of the current head of state, does not exclude that the election dates can be adjusted to the political and economic situation.

2017 is similar to the post-revolutionary 2010 in all respects. Anarchy has come to the country once again.

Interim government formally ruled in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2010. But in reality, the power belonged to the street. Beginning of 2017 showed that the incumbent president does not fully control the current processes and is turning into a nominal figure.

The Social Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan has been the center of attraction in the Parliament for the last 5 years. But now it was divided into three groups. The leader of the Social Democrats Isa Omurkulov, as the Presidential Administration also admits, was unable to ensure unity in the party ranks.

The process has gone so far that it is unlikely that even such an experienced political staffer as Aaly Karashev will have time to re-cement the ruling faction.

The figure of the Prime Minister Sooronbay Jeenbekov was considered as the main presidential candidate from the Social Democratic Party in the last six months. But Almazbek Atambayev has not yet made a final decision on his candidacy.

We should not expect any political activity from the Social-Democrats in the starting campaign until that time.

Almazbek Atambayev and his associates hope that the credibility of the current president and administrative resources will make their protégé one of the favorites in the elections.

Former member of Parliament Cholpon Dzhakupova does not exclude that the government can also engage in rigging of electronic voting results.

Presidential candidate Temir Sariyev has already proposed the establishment of a public supervisory council for the control of the central server of the Central Election Commission.

The upcoming political marathon is different from all previous elections. March 2005 revolution led Kurmanbek Bakiyev to the presidential throne, April 2010 revolution made it with Almazbek Atambayev.

There will be no obvious favorite, which will lead the revolutionary mob, in these elections. Each candidate, including the ruling party, has to work hard to prove his competence to the voters.

Leader of Akshumkar Temir Sariyev admitted during a party conference, that people would elect not only individual politics, but would vote for a team. The team that future president will manage to form.
