13,000 Kyrgyzstanis provided with prosthetic and orthopedic products in 2023
The Republican Institution of Prosthetic and Orthopedic Products under the Ministry of Labor, Social Security and Migration of Kyrgyzstan provided 13,000 citizens with disabilities with prosthetic and orthopedic products in 2023. The press service of the department reported.
According to it, the institution is constantly working to improve the appearance of orthopedic shoes; modern pneumatic knees and carbon feet are used in the manufacture of prosthetics. Thus, the institution’s prosthetists for the first time produced a modern active traction prosthetic arm Kibi for 13 children, which works without electronics and is water-resistant for a total amount of 1.8 million soms.
«The modern and lightweight prosthesis is made from components from Motorika company, which is a resident of Skolkovo innovation center. Previously, parents and children were forced to travel to foreign countries for modern prosthetics. Today they are manufactured in Kyrgyzstan and are fully financed from the state budget,» the Ministry of Labor noted.
As part of the cooperation between Republican Institution of Prosthetic and Orthopedic Products and Assanabil Charity Foundation, production workshops are being renovated as well as the facade of the building. The department added that the institution’s building has not undergone major repairs since 1987.
