MP proposes to create Ministry of Water Resources
Member of Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Emil Toktoshev proposes to create a separate Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation. He voiced the initiative at the meeting of the Parliament.
According to the deputy, being located at the sources of rivers, Kyrgyzstan cannot provide itself with water.
«No one will give guarantees to farmers that next year they will be provided with water in full. We are wasteful when it comes to water. The glaciers are melting. For example, Kazakhstan has a new Ministry of Water Resources this year. We are lagging behind our neighbors. We must bring glaciers and groundwater, analysis and research into a unified system. The new ministry will also train specialists, conduct geological exploration and develop a Water Code,» he said and asked to give protocol instructions to the relevant bodies.
