Foreigner detained with 10 kilograms of mephedrone on road to Manas airport
A foreign citizen, a member of an international drug gang, was detained on the road to Manas airport near Uchkun village. The press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.
According to it, mephedrone with a total weight of 9 kilograms 980 grams was confiscated from the man. The cost of the cargo reached 59,880 million soms.
A criminal case was initiated under Article 282 «Illegal production, storage, transportation, transfer for the purpose of sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their analogues on a large scale» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The detainee was placed in the pre-trial detention center of the SCNS until the end of investigative measures.
Currently, active search measures are ongoing to identify other members of this drug channel, and active work is also being carried out in this direction.
The SCNS added that due to the dynamic emergence of new types of drugs of synthetic origin, as well as communication methods (Internet messengers, social media) that ensure anonymity in distribution and sale, young people are being recruited. The State Committee calls on parents to be vigilant in relation to their children and to conduct explanatory conversations on an ongoing basis.
«For crimes of this kind, persons over 14 years old are subject to criminal liability for a term from 12 to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property,» the SCNS noted.
