Kyrgyzstani detained on suspicion of participation in hostilities in Syria
A citizen of Kyrgyzstan was detained for participation in terrorist activities and military operations on the territory of a foreign state. The press center of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) reported.
The state committee claims that the native of Jalal-Abad region worked in Moscow (Russia) at the end of 2015. There he was recruited by members of the international terrorist organization Katiba al-Tawhid wal-Jihad and transported to Syria, where he underwent sabotage and terrorist training and participated in combat operations against the country’s government forces.
Based on this fact, a criminal investigation was initiated and started under Article 256 «Participation of a citizen of Kyrgyzstan in armed conflicts or military operations on the territory of a foreign state or undergoing training to commit a terrorist act» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The detainee was placed in the pre-trial detention center of the SCNS.
