National Bank: Situation in foreign exchange market is relatively stable
«The situation on the foreign exchange market is relatively stable,» the National Bank official representative Aida Karabaeva said at a press conference.
According to her, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic constantly monitors the external and internal situation. Recently, there has been an excess of demand for foreign currency over its supply. This is due to the seasonal factor.
«If you look at the dynamics of changes in the national currency exchange rate, you can see a seasonal factor. The fourth quarter of the year is always associated with preparations for the autumn-winter period and the purchase of imported goods. Therefore, we associate the excess demand for foreign currency with the seasonal factor and the situation in foreign markets, as well as with the expectations of citizens and the situation in the countries that are trading partners of Kyrgyzstan. In case of sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate, the National Bank will take all necessary measures within the framework of monetary policy instruments,» Aida Karabaeva noted.
