Businessmen of Kyrgyzstan and Russia plan to sign contracts for $3.5 billion

Following the results of the 10th Kyrgyz-Russian Interregional Conference, it is planned to sign documents and contracts for over $3.5 billion. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov, announced at the conference.

He noted that Russia is one of the main trading partners of Kyrgyzstan. From 2018 to 2022, mutual trade between the countries increased 1.8 times, including exports — almost three times, imports — by 19.3 percent. Last year, trade turnover reached a record level of $3.4 billion. The share of the Russian Federation in the total trade turnover of the Kyrgyz Republic was almost 28 percent.

«We are always open to Russian investments and are ready to fully support the initiatives and projects of bona fide investors, provide maximum assistance in their implementation and protect their investments. We are interested in joint cooperation in the areas of production of machinery and equipment, machine tool building, chemical industry, digitalization, microelectronics, taking into account our raw material base,» Akylbek Japarov said.

As a result of the conference, an agreement will be signed between the Presidential Envoy to Jalal-Abad Region and AB Energo LLC on the development and implementation of investment projects and the construction of a coal-fired thermal power plant with a capacity of 660 megawatts in Jalal-Abad region for $2.3 billion.

Agreements will also be signed in the fields of hydropower, renewable energy sources, including the construction of wind and solar power plants, as well as in the field of geology, medicine, fishing industry, the railway industry, and the purchase of automotive equipment.
