Gold medalists of World Wrestling Championship receive 1 million soms each
«We will not leave the athletes who raise the country’s flag high and proud without attention, their achievements will be appreciated at their true value,» the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov said at the ceremony honoring the medalists of the World Wrestling Championships.
On behalf of all Kyrgyz fans, the head of state expressed gratitude to the athletes for «passing through the trials with honor and showing the best willpower» at the World Wrestling Championships in Belgrade.
Kyrgyzstan took third place in the team scoring among more than 30 countries. This is the first time in the country’s history that such a result has been achieved.
«We have high hopes and confidence in those who secured berths at the 33rd Summer Olympic Games to be held in 2024 in Paris. Undoubtedly, we will not leave the athletes who raise the country’s flag high and proud without attention, and we promise that their achievements will be appreciated at their true value,» the President stressed.
Sadyr Japarov focused attention on the athlete Aisuluu Tynybekova, who became a mascot in Kyrgyz women’s wrestling, everyone was sure of her victory in advance. No one doubted that she would bring a gold medal to Kyrgyzstan.
He appreciated the persistence and courage of Aiperi Medet kyzy, who, despite an injury, fought for the country’s honor to the end and won a silver medal.
During the awarding ceremony, the head of state presented the medalists with money certificates:
- Aisuluu Tynybekova, Akzhol Makhmudov, Zholaman Sharshenbekov, who won gold, received 1 million soms each;
- Aiperi Medet kyzy (silver medal) — 750,000 soms;
- Taiyrbek Zhumashbek uulu (bronze medal) — 500,000 soms.
Coaches of athletes also received monetary awards.
Akzhol Makhmudov is now a two-time world champion. Zholaman Sharshenbekov also became a two-time world champion.
Kyrgyzstan has so far secured five berths at the 2024 Olympic Games. Aiperi Medet kyzy and Aisuluu Tynybekova (freestyle wrestling), Denis Petrashov (swimming), Akzhol Makhmudov and Zholaman Sharshenbekov (Greco-Roman wrestling) have the main sports season ahead.
