Results of UN initiative to eradicate violence against women summed up
Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Edil Baisalov said at a press conference summarizing the results of Spotlight initiative that violence against women is unacceptable and the perpetrators must be prosecuted.
He also noted the key results of the program.
«A gender equality strategy and a national action plan have been developed, 49 responsible officers on gender issues have been appointed in ministries and agencies. A training center for lawyers has been established, which has expanded the coverage of free legal aid. A free legal aid hotline 114 has also been established. A municipal institution — Ayalzat center for assistance to women with children — victims of domestic violence, was established at Bishkek City Hall (the first state crisis center0. Technical support was provided for the development of a Cabinet plan to prevent child forced marriages for 2023-2024,» Edil Baisalov said.
The program is implemented under the joint initiative of the European Union and the United Nations system against violence against girls and women.
