Minsk interested in direct flights to Bishkek to import agricultural products

Belarus is interested in regular direct flights between Minsk and Bishkek, which would solve the problem of import of perishable agricultural products. The Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Anatoly Sivak said.

«We have an interest in Kyrgyz agricultural products, especially those that can’t be grown in Belarus due to climatic conditions. Today we are working on substitution of raw material imports from unfriendly countries and are carefully studying the possibilities of Kyrgyz agricultural producers. Unfortunately, a problematic issue now is the delivery of perishable products. One of the possibilities for solving it is direct air service between our countries,» he said.

The statement was made during a meeting with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Torobaev.

Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus stressed that the availability of regular flights between Bishkek and Minsk would also increase the attractiveness of the Kyrgyz Republic for tourists from Belarus, stimulate bilateral cooperation in education and health care.

«This is a topic that requires thorough discussion. I hope we will pay serious attention to it within the meeting of the Intergovernmental Belarus — Kyrgyzstan commission,» he added.

On January 1, 2022 Belarus imposed a food embargo for six months on more than 20 groups of food products from a number of Western countries, which had previously imposed sanctions on Minsk.
