Almazbek Atambayev’s bodyguard Kanat Sagymbaev remanded in custody
Former employee of the Ninth Service of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan Kanat Sagymbaev was remanded in Bishkek pre-trial detention center 1 until February 9. The decision was made by the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek.
Lawyer of the bodyguard of Almazbek Atambayev, Bakytbek Avtandil, asked to change the preventive measure to house arrest due to the fact that Kanat Sagymbaev has small children and a sick wife. However, the court did not grant the request.
Kanat Sagymbaev still refuses to cooperate with the investigation, does not answer questions and does not give testimony.
Kanat Sagymbaev is charged with mass riots, abuse of official position, murder by a group of persons and obstruction of actions of an investigator or other official.
