Social media user detained for criticizing authorities in Kyrgyzstan
Employees of the Main Investigation Department of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan detained a user of social media within the framework of a criminal case under investigation on the fact of inciting inter-regional hostility. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
According to it, A.Zh. distributed publications on social media that contained deliberately false and provocative information, discrediting the current government, and called for disobedience and organization of mass protests, which divided users into opposing groups, provoked mutual insulting comments.
A.Zh. was notified of suspicion of committing a crime under Article 313 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (incitement of inter-regional hostility). He was placed in the pretrial detention center of the State Committee for National Security.
An investigation is underway.
