Lawsuits against media and journalists of Kyrgyzstan reach $ 1 million. The head of the Legal Clinic Adilet, Cholpon Dzhakupova, said at a round table discussion.
According to her, human rights activists consider independent media as their partners. Protection of journalists is a priority in their work.
The ex-deputy of the Parliament added that it was necessary to strengthen the activity of the commission on consideration of complaints against the media and pre-trial resolution of conflicts.
«Our philologists were afraid to take up a linguistic examination. We had to ask Russia for help. We need an alternative pool of experts. Journalists, of course, need to study the legislation in the sphere of their activities. We are interested in development of free journalism,» Cholpon Dzhakupova said.
