Rita Karasartova to run for ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan
Human rights activist Rita Karasartova will run for ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan. She informed 24.kg news agency.
Rita Karasartova has already submitted documents to all six parliamentary factions.
«I’ll run from any of them. The Parliament of Kyrgyzstan should elect a new ombudsman after an early resignation of the previous one within a month according to the law,» Rita Karasartova explained.
The civil activist has already participated in the elections of the main human rights defender of the country in December 2015. After resignation of Kubat Otorbaev, the people’s deputies decided not to announce the competition, but to select candidates through the factions. Each faction can nominate not more than 3 candidates.
Earlier, the head of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, Kanatbek Kerezbekov, told 24.kg news agency that the election of the ombudsman would be held in September.
