Street in Tashkent to be named after Chingiz Aitmatov
It is proposed to name Bodomzor Yuli Street in Yunusabad district of Tashkent after Chingiz Aitmatov. The draft decision was published on the portal for discussion of normative legal acts.
Earlier, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree according to which one of the central streets of Tashkent would be named in honor of Chingiz Aitmatov.
As part of the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the People’s Writer of Kyrgyzstan, it is planned to publish a book of memoirs «Chingiz Aitmatov and Uzbekistan,» to stage a new play, to shoot a documentary and a feature film based on his works.
A writer’s bust will be installed at school 33 in Parkent district of Tashkent region.
