Shirdak claims to be included in intangible cultural heritage list
The Government of Kyrgyzstan wants to achieve inclusion of ala-kiyiz and shirdak in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. The Vice Prime Minister Altynai Omurbekova stated during a working trip to Naryn region.
As the press service of the government told, Altynai Omurbekova took part in the International festival Kyrgyz Shyrdagy. The event is being held in Naryn for the 8th time.
The Vice Prime Minister noted that in 2012 shirdak was included in the list of the endangered intangible heritage of the humankind.
Altynai Omurbekova stressed that each of the seven regions of the republic has its own peculiarity, which must be identified and promoted as a priority.
«At the same time, it is important that the craftswomen, being the preservers of the hearth, were able to adapt and start earning. Today they are making a feasible contribution to strengthening the institution of the family. Thus, women contribute not only to improving the financial situation of their families, but also to promoting the national features of the Kyrgyz people at the world level,» she said.
