Kyrgyz Economy Ministry offers to ban export of crude oil
The Ministry of Economy of Kyrgyzstan proposed to impose a ban on the export of crude oil.
According to it, the volume of oil exports to Tajikistan and Uzbekistan has been steadily increasing in recent years. The need of Kyrgyzstan in oil products is covered by imports from Russia.
Oil refineries are loaded by 50-70 percent due to a shortage of raw materials. At the same time, according to the State Customs Service, in 2016-2017, at least 13,361.6 tons of oil were exported to Tajikistan, and 13,800 tons — to Uzbekistan.
To protect the domestic market and support domestic refineries, the Ministry of Economy proposes to prohibit the export of crude oil for six months (June-November).
The Ministry of Economy proposes to introduce a similar ban in the entire territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.
