Kyrgyzstan completes development of feasibility study for Safe City project

Kyrgyzstan has completed the development of a feasibility study and technical design specifications for Safe City project. The Chairman of the State Committee of Information Technologies and Communications Bakyt Sharshembiev stated. The press service of the government reported.

«We plan to announce a tender in the coming months to select a company that will implement the project. The contractor must create all the necessary road infrastructure and equip the busiest intersections with cameras for recording the violations of traffic rules,» Bakyt Sharshembiev said.

According to him, the software «Automated platform Safe City» was developed by specialists of the State Enterprise Infocom.

«This will allow reducing the number of traffic violations to 2 percent within five years and significantly increasing revenues to the budget,» Bakyt Sharshembiev said.

The Prime Minister Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev noted that the society expected from the government decisive steps to reduce the tragic accidents on the roads of the country and to ensure road safety.

«We should involve large foreign companies with sufficient experience in the field of introducing information technologies and proven IT services in implementation of Safe City project. The procedure for selecting companies should be transparent,» he stressed.

The Prime Minister proposed to increase the guarantee fee for participation in the tender to $ 10 million. If the company winner fails to fulfill the conditions, this amount will be transferred to the state budget.

Mukhammedkaly Abylgaziev also noted the need to expand the functional tasks of Safe City project.

«Reduction in the number of traffic violations is one of the components of the project. Cameras on busy road sections should become a part of the law enforcement and security system of the whole country,» he said.
