Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan asks President to pardon Omurbek Tekebayev
The Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan Kubat Otorbaev asks the president of the country to pardon the former parliament deputy Omurbek Tekebayev, who is serving his sentence in penal colony No. 47.
«The merits of Omurbek Tekebaev in today’s democracy of the country are huge. Neither the investigation nor the court could prove his guilt of a serious crime — corruption. The people compared his criminal case with the repressions in 1937,» said the head of the institute for the protection of human rights.
The leader of Ata Meken party was sentenced to eight years in prison on August 16, 2017. He was found guilty under the article «Corruption» of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
