EEU countries to introduce electronic veterinary certificates

The countries of the Eurasian Economic Union are discussing the introduction of electronic veterinary certificates. The Eurasian Economic Commission reported.

According to its information, the heads of authorized state bodies in the field of veterinary control (supervision) and plant quarantine discussed the creation of an electronic system for traceability of the movement of goods of animal and vegetable origin in the Eurasian Economic Union.

The EEC Minister for Technical Regulation Valery Koreshkov proposed to form a working group in the commission that would develop common approaches to digital interaction, including the use of electronic veterinary certificates in the EEU countries.

The group will also deal with the exchange of veterinary accompanying documents, issued electronically, the formation, maintenance and application of a single database of permits for the import (transit, export) of goods to EEU, controlled by the veterinary service. The participants of the meeting supported this proposal.

Earlier, the EEC Council approved uniform rules for laboratory tests in veterinary control (supervision). The application of these rules will prevent the import of goods that are hazardous in veterinary and sanitary terms or do not meet the uniform requirements of the union.
