6,000 people die every year from tobacco consumption in Kyrgyzstan
In Kyrgyzstan, 6,000 people die each year from various diseases associated with tobacco consumption. Representatives of the office of the World Health Organization in Kyrgyzstan told at a press conference in 24.kg news agency.
According to their data, non-communicable diseases account for about 70 percent of deaths in Kyrgyzstan.
It was also found out that teenagers switch to another type of smoking — through water pipes (hookah). More than 7 percent of schoolchildren aged 13-15 have already tried to smoke a hookah. And in Bishkek, 21 percent of students smoke hookah at the age of 13-15. Up to 10 percent of boys and 5 percent of girls are smokers of tobacco through water pipes.
