Twelve Kyrgyzstanis changed their gender in 2017. Press service of the State Registration Service informed 24.kg news agency.
It states that changes in civil status record are made in the case of submitting a document of the established form on gender change, issued by a medical organization.
In addition, corrections are made if the civil status record indicates incorrect or incomplete information or has spelling mistakes.
The SRS noted that the analysis of gender change cases was carried out only in 2017, so it is difficult to say whether such cases have become more frequent.
