National Bank conducts first intervention in 2018
The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan conducted the first intervention in this year to sell dollars. Its website reports.
Totally, the bank sold $5.4 million with settlements on the date of the transaction. Growth in dollar exchange rate forced the National Bank to enter the currency market. Since the beginning of the year, the currency has risen in price by 50 tyiyns.
The intervention had no significant effect on the rate. Today, the capital’s exchange offices and commercial banks buy dollar for 69.2-69.3 soms, and sell — for 69.45-69.6. Nominal rate is 69,3735 soms (growth — 0.21 percent).
In 2017, the National Bank conducted 21 interventions. For the whole year, it bought up U.S. dollars five times, buying $ 34,460 million. The National Bank sold the currency more actively: $ 107,150 million were sold on the market during 16 interventions. Net sales of dollars amounted to $ 72,690 million.
