Kyrgyzstan to turn to EEU for zero rates on import of electric vehicles
Kyrgyzstan intends to apply to the Eurasian Economic Union regarding the introduction of zero rates on the import of electric vehicles. The director of the State Agency for Environment and Forestry, Abdykalyk Rustamov, told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, registration of a new electric car costs 17,000 soms and the re-registration of a second hand electric car — 5,000 soms in Kyrgyzstan.
He added that the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic should make a proposal to EEU for the introduction of zero customs duties on the import of electric vehicles. «Belarus has already submitted a proposal for zero rates. The Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic should also send its proposal,» Abdykalyk Rustamov explained.
Recall, the grace period for import customs duties on passenger electric vehicles ended on September 1, 2017. Fees for them were reduced from 17 to 0 percent, for freight with a gross weight of up to 5 tons — from 15 to 5 percent.
The deputies of the Parliament also proposed the introduction of incentives for the import of electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles.
