Today, the Bishkek City Court ruled on the lawsuit of Sooronbai Jeenbekov to 24.kg news agency and to journalist Kabai Karabekov on the protection of honor, dignity and business reputation and compensation for moral damage.

The judicial bench of the city court left the decision of the Sverdlovskiy district court of Bishkek unchanged.

Recall, the plaintiff disputed the publication «Visit to Sochi. The Kremlin will once again be explained why the successor is good?» In particular, a quotation from the article: Moscow «hinted to the Kyrgyz side that it was worried about the information of the Kyrgyz and Russian special services about the alleged close ties of the Jeenbekov brothers with radical Arab organizations. Including with the Arab «Society for Social Reforms,» ​​which is recognized in the Russian Federation as a terrorist organization.» The plaintiff asked the court to declare the information untrue.

The court did not take into account the defendants’ arguments that there are no statements in the publication but, on the contrary, are doubted by the word «allegedly» that the presidential candidate, who had a rating of only three percent at the beginning of the year and who increased it tenfold by the beginning of the election race, that the candidate won elections with a wide margin from the main opponent, which means that the publication did not affect his image.

Defendants noted during the trial the incommensurability of the amount claimed by the plaintiff in the amount of ten million soms for alleged damage to his image.
