Supreme Court starts trial of ex-deputy Omurbek Tekebayev
The Supreme Court started the process to consider the supervisory appeal against the verdict of the Bishkek City Court in the case of ex-deputy Omurbek Tekebayev and former head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Duishenkul Chotonov. Both are accused of corruption.

The court also rejected the petition of lawyers to temporarily suspend Omurbek Tekebayev’s deprivation of his mandate. The CEC took a decision on this issue on November 1.
Pervomaisky District and Bishkek City Courts sentenced Omurbek Tekebayev and Duishenkul Chotonov to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
