Kyrgyz entrepreneurs not ready for implementation of EEU Customs Code

«Entrepreneurs in Kyrgyzstan are not ready for implementation of the Customs Code of the EEU since the January 1, 2018,» head of the Association of Markets, Trade and Services Sergey Ponomarev told 24.kg news agency.

According to him, the current situation on the border with Kazakhstan is to some extent indicative. It is already known that about 10 percent of Kyrgyz entrepreneurs were stopped for violations. Of these, 4 percent carried agricultural products without declarations or a certificate of conformity.

«Two years of talking about it everywhere, but people still don’t know about it. The Customs Code will be the same. It is necessary to study more thoroughly all issues related to technical regulations and their observance. Moreover, the new Customs Code of the EEU will soon come into force. The business should understand what will happen after January 1, government officials should also understand how it all works. The dialogue should be live and permanent,» Sergey Ponomarev emphasized.

The new Customs Code of the EEU will come into force on January 1, 2018. There will be no extension of time. According to the code, the release time of goods will be reduced to four hours, while the standard release time, fixed in the Customs Code of the Customs Union, is more than 24 hours.
