The 11th International Festival of Documentary films on human rights Bir-Duyno will be held in Bishkek on November 6-10. The human rights movement informed 24.kg news agency.
At least 17 films from Norway, Sweden, China, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Belgium, USA, Australia, India, Great Britain, Canada, Ukraine, South Africa, and Kyrgyzstan will be screened in Bishkek. The films are grouped into thematic categories corresponding to one of 17 sustainable development goals — such as good health and well-being, sustainable cities and settlements, gender equality, reduction of inequality, peace, justice and effective institutions, conservation of marine ecosystems.
Discussions of the authors and leading experts with the audience will traditionally take place after watching each film.
«Kyrgyzstan is represented by expressive movies. For example, the film by Azamat Sharsheev «Life is Beautiful» tells of a family every day in which is much harder than in a family of ordinary people. Members of this family are visually impaired people. But they always support each other and do not lose their strength of mind, because they have a son,» the human rights movement said.
According to the organizers, in 2017 innovative workshops and master classes will be held within the framework of the festival: «Equal opportunities for people with disabilities», «Dialogue of Generations», «Sexual Violence Against Children», «Women, Security, Peace and Development», «Together in Combating Human Trafficking», «Economic Growth through the Development of Regions.»
