Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan calls decision to close "September" TV channel harsh
Kyrgyz Ombudsman Kubat Otorbaev called the decision to close the September TV channel harsh, his press office reported.
Termination of «September» is justified by the court because the television channel carried out extremist activities. However, the broadcast of materials of an extremist nature was made only once — September 29, 2016.
«Thus, we believe that the arguments set forth in the descriptive and motivating part of the court’s decision on the extremist activities carried out by the administration of the September television channel are clearly exaggerated. Since the materials of extremist nature were broadcast on the channel, almost a year has passed, and today one can say with absolute certainty that their broadcast didn’t entail any serious consequences,» the message says.
