He wondered what conscience is. «This is a universal concept. Conscience responds to specific challenges. They are formulated in the Ten Commandments. When we offend or we are offended, the conscience spurs on certain actions. We react to these challenges. How to deal with morality? All laws are secondary to morality. If laws disagree with moral principles, then we call them unfair. Without a moral sense, freedom doesn’t work either," the patriarch said.
He added that the topic of limiting human freedom to morality is very relevant. «In the West, laws that break with morality are passed. These are laws that support homosexuality. This is the result of the emphasis on freedom, with complete disregard for morality. If we want to be free, build a free society, we should never break freedom and morality. I am deeply convinced that this temptation, which led some countries to adopt a number of extraordinary laws, will pass," he said.
