National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has almost 50 tons of gold in its assets
As of July 31, 2023, the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan has assets in gold in the amount of 49.8 tons. Press service of the bank informed 24.kg news agency.
Including 17.1 tons of the precious metal are part of the international reserves. The remaining 32.7 tons are reserves in gold and non-monetary gold.
«Within the framework of the policy of replenishing the volume of gold and foreign exchange reserves, the National Bank on a regular basis purchases gold offered by local producers exclusively for the national currency. These operations are made only within the framework of general agreements concluded by the National Bank with Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC and local producers of precious metals. The agreement between Kumtor Gold Company and the National Bank was not concluded,» the National Bank said.
