Survey results: Kyrgyzstanis name most corrupt state agencies
At least 50 percent of citizens of Kyrgyzstan have never given a bribe, handed gifts, or expressed gratitude in any other way during the year. Results of the national survey conducted by the International Republican Institute say.
The survey was conducted from May 5 to May 25, 2023. It involved 1,492 Kyrgyzstanis aged 18 and older.
At least 33 percent of the respondents said they didn’t have to express gratitude to anyone very often during 12 months. Two percent answered that they did it daily and weekly. Seven percent brought gifts every month.
At the same time, 38 percent answered that the authorities are doing enough to fight corruption. In September 2022, this figure was lower — 33 percent. In April 2022, 46 percent praised officials for fighting corruption.
Respondents consider the courts as the most corrupt (49 percent). The State Traffic Safety Department takes the second place with 46 percent. At least 41 percent of respondents consider the police as the most corrupt, and 31 percent — the Tax Service.
