Kyrgyzstani suspected of terrorism detained in Europe
Nine immigrants from Central Asian countries suspected of terrorism were detained in Europe. Azattyk reported with reference to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Germany.
The detainees stayed in Germany and the Netherlands. A citizen of Turkmenistan, a citizen of Kyrgyzstan and five citizens of Tajikistan were detained in Germany.
The citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic, Abrorjon K., according to investigators, has been collecting funds for the Islamic State terrorist organization since April last year and transferring money to foreign accounts.
According to the country’s Prosecutor General’s Office, their accomplices suspected of preparing a terrorist attack were detained in the Netherlands. This is a married couple: a 29-year-old Tajik citizen and a 31-year-old citizen of Kyrgyzstan.
The detainees are suspected of creating a terrorist community and participating in it, as well as supporting the Islamic State extremist organization (Articles 129a and 129b of the Criminal Code of Germany).
According to investigators, all the detainees come from Central Asian states and have known each other for a long time and share radical Islamic views. Previously, they all lived in Ukraine, but after the start of the Russian military invasion in the spring of 2022, under the guise of refugees, they moved to Germany.
All the detainees are held in pre-trial detention centers in Germany and the Netherlands.
The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Germany has not yet commented on these detentions.
