Director of Nature Development Fund detained for corruption
A corruption scheme was revealed at the Nature Development Fund under the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision. Press center of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported.
«Director of the fund is the main organizer of the corruption scheme, which consists in unjustified financial support for affiliated projects and lobbying the interests of individual companies. The fund has been replenished at the expense of funds allocated by Kumtor Gold Company CJSC since 2021. The total amount of funding for three years amounted to about 976,800 million soms.
Suspect in conspiring with employees of the Ministry of Natural Resources transferred more than 400 million soms to various organizations for environmental projects. Money was actually used for organization of private business.
Projects were approved and financed without environmental and other expertise, detailed study of effectiveness, assessment of their feasibility and relevance. In turn, the management of the Ministry of Natural Resources did not ensure proper control over the spending of the fund’s money,» the statement says.
