EDB predicts exchange rate at the level of 87-89 soms per dollar in 2023
In the baseline scenario, analysts of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) predict the exchange rate of the Kyrgyz som at the level of 87-89 soms per dollar in 2023. The bank’s macroeconomic forecast says.
The monetary policy of the National Bank, aimed at smoothing sharp fluctuations in the dynamics of the som exchange rate will partly contribute to this.
«In the long term, higher inflation in Kyrgyzstan compared to trading partner countries will cause depreciation of the som by about 2 percent for a year,» EDB says.
