Eight million accounts opened in banks of Kyrgyzstan
The number of bank customer accounts reached more than 8 million. The National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan provided such data.
To date, the National Bank and 23 commercial banks operate in the banking system, 14 of which are with the participation of foreign capital. At least 326 of their branches operate in the regions of the republic. The number of employees employed in the banking segment reaches about 18,500 people.
In 2022, the banking sector’s income reached almost 93 billion soms, an increase of 1.7 times compared to the previous year. The expenses for this period amounted to 57.8 billion soms, which is 1.6 times more. The total assets of the banking sector of the economy at the end of 2022 amounted to 877.2 billion soms, having increased by 30.4 percent over the year.
