All departments give negative opinion about draft mass media law - expert
Semetei Amanbekov, a member of the working group for preparing a new draft law on mass media, said at the round table dedicated to the World Press Freedom Day and protection of civil rights and freedoms in Kyrgyzstan that all departments gave a negative opinion on the version of the document, which was prepared by the presidential administration.
According to him, the Ministry of Justice stated directly: the document cannot be adopted in this form.
Semetei Amanbekov recommended his colleagues from the working group preparing another no less scandalous draft law on non-profit organizations also request the opinions of the relevant agencies. According to him, it is necessary to achieve that both versions were sent for opinion by the OSCE and experts of the Venice Commission.
Earlier, lawyers, experts and journalists said that the versions of the laws prepared by the presidential administration contradict the Constitution and international treaties to which Kyrgyzstan is a party.
