Trade mission of Kyrgyzstan explores opportunities for export to the UK
A delegation of business associations of Kyrgyzstan will visit the UK from April 25 to April 27. The country’s Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
Entrepreneurs will be introduced to the new Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS). Particular attention will be paid to the textile and agricultural sectors.
«This is the first trade mission between the UK and Kyrgyzstan since 2019 and represents an important step in growing bilateral ties,» the Embassy said.
DCTS comes into force in June 2023. The Kyrgyz Republic has the right to receive extended preferences under the scheme in the form of reduced or zero import rates on 92 percent of commodity items, as well as simplified trade conditions.
For the republic, the scheme allows exporting more than 8,000 commodity items under such conditions.
The trade mission of Kyrgyzstan is headed by the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Temir Sariev. The management of the Association for Development of the Agro-Industrial Complex and the Fashion and Textile Association participates in the visit.
The delegation will meet with representatives of the London Chamber of Commerce, UK trade associations, potential partners and buyers, customs procedures service providers in the country. In addition, they will hold meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Business and Trade.
«The purpose of the visit is to take the first steps in unlocking the potential that DCTS offers for Kyrgyz business by building links between representatives of key business associations of the Kyrgyz Republic and potential British buyers, and improving understanding and raising awareness of other non-tariff barriers that impede Kyrgyzstan’s exports to the UK,» the Embassy stressed.
