Rape of 13-year-old girl: Rally in support of girl takes place in Bishkek
A rally in support of a 13-year-old girl raped by policemen takes place in Bishkek. About ten people gathered near the Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan, where the cassation trial began.
They are holding banners: «Court, be fair», «Akyikat chechim». The people and relatives of the child fear that the perpetrators may escape punishment. Law enforcement agencies asked the participants to move to park opposite the Supreme Court.
The Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek also considered the case against the fourth rape suspect, a waiter. All four defendants know each other.
As a result, the security guard at the market was sentenced to 10 years in prison to be served in a prison colony, district police officer — to 15 years in prison. Employee of the Juvenile Inspectorate of the Internal Affairs Department of Leninsky district was sentenced to 15 years in prison to be served in a prison colony.
The panel of judges of the Bishkek City Court, chaired by Mirad Dineyev, commuted the sentences of the defendants, reducing the prison terms to six and nine years.
