Human rights activists meet with conscript soldiers in Batken
Employees of the branch of the National Center for Prevention of Torture for Batken region, together with employees of the Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Batken garrison and the Batken kaziyat of the Spiritual Directorate of the Muslims of Kyrgyzstan, met with soldiers of two military units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Having familiarized themselves with the conditions of service, human rights activists detected a number of shortcomings and made recommendations on their correction.
They also told about effective prevention of torture, ill-treatment and prevention of cases of suicide and hazing in the military units of Kyrgyzstan.
It should be noted that a soldier of Batken border detachment committed suicide by shooting himself with a firearm in June 2021.
