Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan start negotiations on border demarcation
Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan have begun negotiations on the demarcation of the border. The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhromjon Aloev reported.
«Our working groups have begun work on the demarcation of the state border,» he said, speaking in Tashkent at a round table on the prospects for a strategic partnership between the two countries.
The deputy head of the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said that the first meeting of the groups has already taken place, the second is planned to be held in the near future. The schedule of negotiations has been drawn up for 2023.
At the end of January, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan completed the process of border delimitation and exchanged instruments of ratification.
On November 17, the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan ratified an agreement with the Republic of Uzbekistan on certain sections of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border. President Sadyr Japarov attended the meeting.
On November 29, he signed the Law on ratification of the Agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Uzbekistan on certain sections of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek state border, signed on November 3, 2022 in Bishkek.
Delimitation is determination of the general position and direction of the state border between neighboring states through negotiations.
Demarcation is the drawing of the state border on the ground with marking it with special boundary signs. It is carried out on the basis of documents on the delimitation of the border.
