Film director and screenwriter Gennadiy Bazarov dies aged 80
People’s Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, film director, screenwriter Gennadiy Bazarov has died. The human rights activist Aziza Abdirasulova reported, citing family of the people’s artist.
According to her, Gennadiy Bazarov died last night. He was 80 years old. The funeral will take place on February 7.
The name of Gennadiy Bazarov is known not only to the people of Kyrgyzstan — the films shot by the master of national cinema are loved in many countries. He is one of the founders of the auteur Kyrgyz cinema. Last year he was awarded Manas State Order.
His films «Mother’s Field», «Ambush», «The Apple of the Eye» and others are forever inscribed in the film chronicle of the country.
