Kyrgyzstan to be able to import 10,000 electric vehicles duty-free in 2023
The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has set a tariff exemption for the import of electric vehicles. The First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliyev told journalists.
According to him, as a result, Kyrgyzstan received the opportunity to import 5,000 electric vehicles from third countries in 2022 duty-free. The quota for the next year is 10,000 electric vehicles.
In the year of the chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic in the EAEU, changes were also made to the technical regulations of the Customs Union on the safety of wheeled vehicles. The amendments provide for a simplified procedure for obtaining type approval of vehicles without sending vehicles to testing laboratories located on the territory of the member states by the subjects of the domestic automotive industry. In addition, the transitional period has been extended under the technical regulations of the Customs Union on the requirements for automobile and aviation gasoline, diesel and marine fuel, jet fuel and fuel oil. This will allow domestic producers of petroleum products to complete the modernization of enterprises by 2025.
