Alternative tunnel to be built on Bishkek - Osh highway
A new tunnel with a length of 11 kilometers will be built on Bishkek — Osh highway. It was announced at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on transport, communications, architecture and construction.
The draft law on highways is considered at the meeting.
Deputy Eldar Sulaimanov recalled: in September, at a meeting of the committee, representatives of the Ministry of Transport reported that the tunnel on Too-Ashuu pass was obsolete, so the possibility of building a new one was considered. The deputy noted: information was spread on social media that the length of the new tunnel would be 11 kilometers, and asked to comment on the issue.
The head of the Ministry of Transport, Tilek Tekebaev, confirmed the information. «An alternative tunnel will be built on Sosnovka — Talas road. A competition has been announced. The tunnel will be located a thousand meters lower than the current one,» he explained.
