MP proposes to fine owners of vehicles without catalytic converters
No measures are taken against vehicles without catalytic converters. Deputy Shailoobek Atazov stated this at a meeting of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan.
According to him, the owners of vehicles that pollute the air should be fined and the cars arrested.
«No one answers the question how many cars without catalytic converters were arrested and fined. The price of a catalytic converter has reached 80,000-100,000 soms. Who will solve this problem?» Shailoobek Atazov asked.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Erkebek Ashirkhodzhaev replied that only freight and passenger transport passes technical inspection. «We don’t have the equipment and ability to check for presence of catalytic converters. There is no norm that sets the amount of fine,» he said.
