National Bank: Som exchange rate remains stable against CIS currencies
The nominal exchange rate of the Kyrgyz som remains stable against the currencies of the CIS countries. The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan reported.
Since the beginning of 2022, the official exchange rate of the U.S. dollar against the som has dropped by 0.42 percent — from 84.8 to 84.4475 soms.
«The National Bank constantly monitors the situation both in the domestic foreign exchange market and in external financial markets. If necessary, foreign exchange interventions are conducted. Since the beginning of 2022, the National Bank has conducted six interventions to sell foreign currency in the amount of $339.5 million. Of these, $66.65 million were sold in cash. In addition, seven interventions were conducted to purchase U.S. dollars in the amount of $190.74 million. Thus, the net sale of U.S. dollars reached $148.76 million,» the National Bank said.
