Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov met with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso as part of his working visit to Japan. Press service of the Cabinet reported.

Akylbek Japarov noted that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development was an important and reliable partner of Kyrgyzstan. It provides significant support in the socio-economic development of the republic.

«The measures taken and being implemented have made it possible not only to mitigate the negative impact of global factors on the domestic economy, but also to ensure the growth of the country’s economy. By the end of this year, we expect the gross domestic product to grow by 7 percent, and the republic’s consolidated budget in 2023 will be about 503 billion soms. For the next year, we plan to carry out important reforms, including in the field of compulsory medical insurance,» the head of the Cabinet said.

He also told that next year it was planned to begin construction of 20 modern hospitals and several dozen secondary schools within the framework of public-private partnership.

At the same time, the country hopes for the support of these projects from the EBRD.

In turn, Odile Renaud-Basso said that the financial institution she headed attached great importance to the progressive development of cooperation with Kyrgyzstan. The key to this is the energy sector.

«We took the news that Kyrgyzstan has begun implementing projects in the field of small and medium-sized energy positively. We need to pay more attention to the development of renewable energy sources. To do this, it is necessary to carry out appropriate work to improve the current legislation so that our financial institution can finance promising projects based on solar and wind energy. In addition, an important area is cooperation in the field of transport, support for small and medium-sized businesses, and interaction with local authorities,» she stressed.
